A Letter from Jason & Denise
Thank you so much for choosing to learn more about us! We are a happy, loving couple who are excited about expanding our family again through adoption. Despite infertility, we desired to have children and very quickly came to the conclusion that biology isn’t what makes a family: love is. We started the adoption process in 2013 and adopted a daughter three years later. Now we’re ready to add another child to the mix!
We met through a mutual friend in 2006 and got married in 2008 and have always wanted a big family. We enjoy being around our friends, watching college football (go Ducks!), going to the movies, being at church, and taking walks with our dog.
In 2016 we were blessed beyond measure by the adoption of our daughter, Jillian. We maintain contact with her birth mother through social media, and it’s been a great experience being able to share little videos and pictures of her as she meets new milestones. We are open to contact with you too, if you wish!
We eat dinner as a family every night. It’s one of the things that Denise’s family did as she grew up, and we’ve come to understand how important it is. We know that good habits should start as early as possible. As our kids grow up, we’re looking forward to hearing about what they learned, how they feel, and their opinions on different subjects.
Denise is funny and outgoing. She enjoys cooking, reading, watching television, volunteering at church as part of the worship team and being a greeter, and taking Jillian on walks and to the children’s museum. This year she’s trying her hand at gardening and will attempt to grow zucchini and lettuce, as well as some herbs.
Though she’s a native of Florida, she loves watching the leaves change and playing in the snow. She is patient, level-headed, and loves being a mom. She loves watching Jillian learn, explore, and create.
Jason is hard-working and optimistic. He is quick to find a solution to any problem and always lightens the mood with a joke and a positive attitude, and those qualities make him an excellent father. He enjoys watching movies, playing tennis and golf, and running the sound booth at church during worship services. He has been snowboarding since he was a child and is really excited about teaching his kids how to snowboard or ski (he may already be looking at tiny snowboards).
Our families are spread out across the U.S. and we see them often. We have family in Northern Oregon, California, Washington, Texas, Florida, and South Carolina. We love our families very much, so even though we live far away, spending time with them is a priority.
Denise’s family vacations together almost yearly, and it’s a great opportunity for the whole family to reconnect. The picture on the right is from December 2018, when we spent Christmas in Dallas, TX with Denise’s family (some of us chose to wear our Christmas jammies on our walk around the neighborhood). We spend time once or twice a week talking to our relatives on FaceTime. They really enjoy being able to watch our daughter grow up, and it helps bridge some of the distance.
We live in a 3-bedroom home in an established neighborhood with views of the mountains. It is less than a mile from an elementary school and a very fun park. On the weekends, it’s not uncommon to see kids riding their bikes or playing games on the quiet streets, and families going on walks.
We have a 6-year-old hound/Dalmatian mix named Hurley. He is so gentle with kids, and he loves opportunities to have a walking buddy or eat food off of the floor when it gets tossed from the high chair.
We promise to tell our child often how much they are loved by God, by their birth family, and by us. We promise to give our child opportunities to learn, explore, and create and will nurture his or her passions and talents. We will provide a warm home and encouragement to explore their surroundings and be curious about the world. We will raise our child in a loving home full of joy and laughter that will teach them to be kind, compassionate, and responsible citizens. We promise to speak honorably about you and to always let them know that they came to be our child through adoption.
